in an age where the injustices of
our world are more clear than ever before, SKIVES forgoes any tricky
metaphors for a more upfront lyrical approach. these direct calls to
action bring to light some issues that our society is known for, such as
poor healthcare infrastructure, animal rights/veganism and climate
change. the earth is burning and this is the soundtrack for forward
movement. rife with melodic guitar parts and the occasional d-beat,

Arrived Consilium is a d-beat
hardcore / melodic crust band hailing from Bandung, Indonesia. killer
metal chops on the intro lead the way to a distinct sound that almost
seems long forgotten. laden with terse disbeats and apocalyptic melodic
hardcore guitar leads, this EP shows as a promising starting point for a
young band that invokes the speed and energy of Wolfbrigade or the
neocrust of The Holy Mountain. Arrived Consilium hypnotically wields
d-beat hardcore like a weapon to put you in a trance against the current

AVA-003 - Controller - The True Sense Of Strength Within
originally released in 2021, The True Sense Of Strength Within shows Controller getting very comfortable with their mix of crossover thrash, metallic chugging hardcore/punk with divebomb guitars, and abrasive vocals offset by perfectly crisp production. initially a vinyl-only release, the demand for this album on tape was obvious as it got reissued by Break Out in Indonesia, and then by the good people at Force Of Reckoning for a proper stateside drop the following year. this new edition is the only one with the alternative white background artwork, and hits just in time to make it to the merch table for Controller's upcoming June 2023 tour.

A Culture Of Killing are an Italian anarcho/post-punk band that have really caught my ear over the past few years. combining the urgency of early 80's peace punk with the varied instrumentation of goth and pop music, and adding some grooving dub parts with endlessly catchy bass lines, A Culture Of Killing have created a truly memorable album that manages to capture the best parts of many genres. the call and response vocals, mixed with tasteful percussion and excellent songwriting, give this recording tremendous replay value and I am very proud to be involved with the release of this personal favorite.

AVA-001 - Manbeast - end.
it's been five years since their last show and these unreleased songs are finally seeing the light of day. blending the speed and structure of powerviolence with a more straightforward hardcore style and nature/green anarchist themes, Manbeast developed their sound over the years with an emphasis on a live performance that occurred just under 100 times in total. the last studio foray resulted in Beyond Repair (2018, Rat Mix records) and now this final statement: end. it's the end for a lot of things here but maybe the bigger picture is that the end for us can be the beginning of something way more important.
